Botox: The Secret to Migraine Relief

For over two years I've been getting Botox Treatment for migraines. I started months after it was FDA approved. And it has changed my life. In 2009 I woke up one day in May with the worse pain in my life. That weekend I went to the hospital 4 times in 3 days. Three times by ambulance. It remains the worst period of my life. I am surprised I lived through it. I was diagnosed with cluster headaches. And they were excrutiating. A few months after I got the cluster headaches into remission my migraines returned.

I had 15 years without migraines. And then they returned. First slowly and then they took over my life. By this I mean within a year I was having up to 18 days of migraine a month. Some of those were short 4 hour events and some lasted days. I tried medicine, elimination diets everything anyone recommended and nothing worked.

Then my doctor suggested Botox. I was resistance, first because I felt nothing could help. And then it was that this was a gamble that wouldn't work. But I was desperate and so I jumped in.

The first treatment wasn't great. Within a few days I got a more unusal side effect I felt like I had the flu. I was achy, I had headaches, I was miserable. But after a few days that went away. And then the effects started kicking in. After the first treatment my migraines were reduced by 1/3. And for me that was miraculous.

The second treatment it was about half. Last month I only had 2 migraines. Well, then today I had one. I am due for injections in 9 days and it's that fun time of month where the hormones surge and my migraines are triggerred.

I'm counting down the days till Botox. Did I mention that I'll never get those forehead wrinkles if I keep it up - but most importantly I will feel better every day.

So, if you have more than 14 headache days a month talk with a neurologist about Botox for Migraines. It works!
